Abstract

Renewable energy projects are capital intensive requiring millions of euros in investment. As with every capital-intensive infrastructure project, cost overruns are a common feature in the renewables industry. Supply chain challenges, high interest rates add pressures to the profit margins of the project in an already competitive industry. This makes it necessary to have a good control on the project development and construction costs so as to ensure cost-competitiveness and project profitability. How can companies limit cost deviations to improve decision making towards an FID?
