Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in industry and the academic community.

PO306: Sarco wind farm in Chile increases annual energy performance, using smart cable sensor data, enabling  the synergy between human expertise and AI to, deliver great financial and operational value. See data as an asset.

Jeroen Gerrissen, Energy transition officer, DNV

Abstract

The 170 MW, Sarco wind farm is one of the largest in Chile. Located in the Atacama Desert in the north of the country, the 50 wind turbines supply electricity for 270,000 households.  Data and analysis from smart cable sensors, enhancing the data science capabilities unlock the insights from asset data and can see data as an asset. This  allows the Sarco wind farm to prevent outages and plan its maintenance more efficiently. The data platform identifies the most vulnerable cables and prioritizes which cables need to be replaced first to prevent outages and therefore loss of energy capacity. The wind shield time and outage time has been reduced to a minimum, enabling its owner, Innergex, to meet regulations regarding maximum allowed downtime.
