Biography

Mr. Nelson is a relative newcomer in the wind industry having moved to the field in 2025 as a Senior Data Scientist at Indeximate. Before this, he spent 15 years as a professional astrophysicist studying the inner workings of the tenuous and extremely hot solar atmosphere. His previous career culminated in a 3-year post as a scientist at the European Space Agency, a position on the Science Advisory Group for the European Solar Telescope, and included invited talks at major international conferences such as the International Astronomical Union's General Assembly 2024 in Cape Town. He now utilises the wealth of experience in research, remote sensing, and big data he developed in his previous career to develop algorithms that facilitate the continuous monitoring of undersea cables using fibre optic sensing. He is excited to contribute to the success of the wind industry over the coming years.
