Biography

Tinne Van der Straeten is the CEO of WindEurope, a position she has held since February 2026. Prior to that she served as Belgium’s Minister for Energy from October 2020 to the beginning of 2025. In this role, she steered Belgium through the energy crisis and strengthened European energy cooperation. During the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024, she chaired the European Energy Council, which she dedicated to the energy grid infrastructure and strengthening Europe’s energy independence. Before her time as Minister, she served in the Belgian Federal Parliament for two periods (2007-2010, 2019-2020). In 2010 she co-founded the Brussels-based law firm Blixt, a law firm specialising in energy law. As a partner at Blixt, she gained 9 years of experience in the energy sector. Tinne Van der Straeten possesses a law degree from the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB).
