Biography
Dr. Chems-Eddine Himeur is a computer scientist specializing in 3D geometry processing, point-cloud analysis, and computer graphics. He earned his PhD in Computer Science and Telecommunications at the Université de Toulouse (IRIT, CNRS, and Alpha Wind) in December 2024, after completing a Master's in Computer Graphics. His doctoral research produced DragonSky, a UAV-based LiDAR inspection platform for wind turbines. This system introduced novel algorithms for registration, denoising, segmentation, and motion correction of point clouds, enabling accurate 3D rotor reconstructions. DragonSky has demonstrated performance comparable to established ground-based laser systems across diverse conditions. Dr. Himeur has published on mesh simplification, edge detection, and geometry processing, including the creation of PCEDNet, a neural network for efficient edge detection in 3D point clouds. He is currently Head of Research and Development at Alpha Wind, leading LiDAR-on-drone innovations for rotor analysis and inspection in challenging environments.Posters
