Director of Fisheries, INSPIRE Environmental
Biography
Brian Gervelis is a marine scientist with a focus on fisheries sampling design, analysis, and reporting. He is currently a Principal Scientist and Director of Fisheries at INSPIRE Environmental in Newport, RI, USA. He studied marine biology and fisheries science at the University of Rhode Island. His current work involves designing research and monitoring plans and fisheries surveys in support of offshore wind development. He has extensive knowledge of Northeast and Mid-Atlantic commercial and recreational fisheries and both fishery-dependent and fishery-independent datasets. Mr. Gervelis has more than twenty years of diverse experience in environmental field work supporting long-term monitoring programs to assess fish populations and cooperative research studies with members of the commercial and recreational fishing industries. He has a strong quantitative background including analysis and interpretation of large ecological data sets.Presentations
