Associate Professor, Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM)
Biography
Raúl Guanche holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Naval Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). His research focuses on fluid–structure interaction (FSI) in offshore engineering and marine renewable energy, with a strong emphasis on offshore wind. He has authored more than 90 scientific publications and has led the development of advanced numerical tools and methodologies that have been transferred to industry through public–private collaboration projects. His work combines fundamental research with applied engineering solutions for the design and assessment of offshore structures and renewable energy systems. He was awarded the prestigious Ramón y Cajal research contract (2019–2023, maximum score in Civil Engineering), the Juan López de Peñalver Prize from the Royal Academy of Engineering for the best young research group in 2019, and the Wind Energy Business Association Award 2022 for his contributions to offshore wind energy in Spain.Posters
