Biography
Kirsten Carter is the Head of UK Marine Policy for the RSPB, chair of the Wildlife and Countryside LINK marine group (a collaboration of UK NGOs influencing national policy) and leads strategic delivery of the Birdlife Europe and Central Asia Renewables work programme.
Kirsten champions thriving seabirds and resilient seas. Her work focuses on taking a science based approach to delivering nature positive offshore wind, sustainable fisheries and ensuring delivery of a robust network of Marine Protected Areas. Kirsten has extensive experience working with marine sectors to drive strategic actions, this has included playing a crucial role in securing the closure of industrial sandeel fishing in the English North Sea and all of Scottish waters in 2024 to support seabird needs.
In 2024 Kirsten was featured on the ENDs 2024 power list in the top 20 influencers on policy and legislation in the UK.
