Biography

Jeroen Hoekendijk is a Senior Marine Ecologist at Arcadis with a strong background in marine mammal research, ecology, and the application of artificial intelligence in marine science. He holds a PhD from Wageningen University (WUR), for which he worked at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). Here he developed innovative AI-based methods for marine mammal monitoring and ecological analysis. Over the past decade, Jeroen has combined expertise in fieldwork, data analysis, and automated image processing to advance understanding of marine ecosystems and species distributions. His work bridges ecological research and technology, contributing to sustainable marine management and conservation initiatives across the North Sea and beyond.
