Biography

Theofano (Fani) Koutrouveli is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, Technical Chamber of Greece) with over 15 years of experience in hydraulic and coastal engineering. She holds an MSc in Water Resources and Environment and a PhD in Coastal Engineering from the University of Patras, where her research focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling of wave transformation, currents, turbulence, and nearshore processes. Since joining IMDC in 2018, Fani has applied her strong background in hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modelling to projects on river dynamics, dredging, and CFD applications in marine environments. In recent years, she has specialised in business development and project management for FSRU/LNG terminals as well as offshore wind and subsea cable projects. Her experience includes managing environmental assessments of scour from vessel thrusters, analyses of cable damages, and the design of scour protection, supporting the safe and efficient development of offshore renewable energy infrastructure.
