Biography

Stéphane Schmitt is a lightning risk specialist with peer reviewed and conference publications on human lightning accidentology and thunderstorm warning systems (TWS) performance, including ICLP (2016, 2022, 2024), ECSS (2023), and La Météorologie (lead author, 2022). His work focuses on translating lightning detection data into actionable operational decisions for safety critical industries, bridging IEC/BSI standards (e.g., EN 62793) with risk reduction for workers and assets. Stéphane has contributed studies on POD_x based performance, tolerable risk and alarm management across wind, storage terminals, and defence use cases.
