Renewable Energy Engineer, AXIS
Biography
Sophie is part of the global team of engineers embedded in the renewable energy team that provides support to underwriters and insureds for onshore and offshore renewable energy projects. She is also responsible for renewables claims data analysis and supports the production of best practice guidelines for existing and emerging technologies. Sophie recently won the AXIS Global Markets Excellence Value Award for her contributions on the Solar Vs Hail: Pivoting Away From Danger 2025 Report. A trained mechanical-electrical engineer, Sophie joined AXIS in 2024 bringing several years of experience in energy engineering design consultancy fields. Previously, Sophie worked as a postgraduate researcher in the Department of Engineering at Durham University, where she managed the electrical teaching laboratory. Her research centred on designing and evaluating power conversion systems for wind turbines, earning her recognition as a STEM for Britain Finalist in 2023/24. During her time at Durham, she was an active member of the Durham Energy Institute. Prior to this, Sophie was a Mechanical Engineer at AECOM. She is also a member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and the Women’s Engineering Society (WES).Posters
