Engineer - Deepwater Wind, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult)
Biography
Sonny Cain is an Engineer at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, working within the Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence. He has over two years of experience supporting developer-led offshore wind projects, with a focus on mooring and anchoring systems and dynamic cables.
His work spans fatigue studies of synthetic fibre mooring systems, dynamic cable installation risks and failure studies, and technology qualification. Sonny has also led the technical delivery of carbon footprinting projects related to floating offshore wind within the Deepwater Wind team at ORE Catapult. He holds an MSc in Sustainable Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University.
