Biography

Javier Sarmiento is a lead senior consultant engineer in the Offshore Engineering and Ocean Energy Group at IHCantabria. He is a civil engineer from the University of Cantabria. He joined the IHCantabria team in 2012. During this time, he has worked on national and international projects related to offshore wind and marine energies. In recent years, his research has focused primarily on analysing free scour and designing rock scour protection for offshore wind foundations. He also has extensive experience of conducting physical experiments related to floating devices for wind and wave energy converters.
