AI Researcher, Wind Power LAB
Biography
Dr. Raül Pérez-Gonzalo holds an Industrial PhD in Automatic Control, Robotics and Computer Vision and is currently an AI Researcher at Wind Power Lab. His work focuses on applying computer vision and machine learning to the inspection and maintenance of wind turbine blades, aiming to reduce operational costs and improve reliability. He has developed novel algorithms for image segmentation, defect detection, and ROI-based compression, leading to a patent application and several international publications. He was awarded a Canon Foundation Research Fellowship to collaborate with Waseda University in Tokyo. In parallel, he is an Associate Professor at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), where he teaches data science and statistics. His broader interest is advancing renewable energy technologies through AI-driven solutions that accelerate the energy transition.Presentations
