Biography

Andrew Hastings Black is an expert in remote sensing technologies. At Vaisala, his work focuses on the use of WindCube lidar for wind energy applications. He has worked in R&D for a variety of products at Vaisala, including the Triton sodar, the X- and C-band weather radars, and wind energy forecasting technology. He has worked in wind energy for 17 years, at Second Wind and Vaisala. He serves in various industry working groups including the IEC's TC88, and IEA Wind Task 52 focused on lidar for wind energy. He has a BA in Physics from Tufts University and an MSc in Applied Physics from Columbia University.
