Biography
Dr Jamie Mathews is a climate researcher with expertise in ocean-atmosphere interactions and climate dynamics. He recently completed a PhD at Imperial College London, funded by the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie programme, where his research examined the role of the Gulf Stream in modulating atmospheric blocking using observational datasets, high-resolution models, and dynamical systems approaches. Prior to this, he earned an MSc in Physics (Distinction) from Imperial and a BA in Theoretical Physics (First Class) from Trinity College Dublin. Jamie's work bridges rigorous climate science with public engagement. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and developed diagnostic tools for understanding potential vorticity in western boundary currents. Beyond academia, he collaborated with the Línte na Farraige project, creating large-scale public light installations to communicate the risks of sea-level rise along Irish coasts. His broader goal is to integrate scientific insight into society, making complex climate processes accessible.Posters
