Fact over perception? The Real Value of Offshore Wind
Revealing new analysis on total European power system savings
When: Thursday 23 April, 08:00 – 09:15
Where: Colón, Level 2 – Conference Area
Open to: All registered participants
Offshore wind has unique benefits on cost, reliability, and energy security. The challenge now is ensuring this reality is fully understood.
Join us at this Ørsted breakfast, we will share new analysis showing that a renewables-based system, with offshore wind at its core, can reduce total European power system costs by up to 30% by 2040, while strengthening energy independence, system resilience, and delivering on climate targets. Many Europeans still view offshore wind as more expensive, less reliable, and less independent than it actually is, leaving space for misinformation to shape the narrative.
The session will conclude with a panel discussion on how policymakers, WindEurope, and industry can work together to strengthen understanding from improving energy system literacy to clearly communicating the value of stable, predictable investment frameworks such as CfDs and sequential commissioning.
