Steel is a strategic input for Europe’s industrial base, and wind is one of the most steel-intensive industries – from turbines to foundations, substations, vessels and installation equipment.

As steel becomes central to fast-evolving EU trade and industrial policies, there are growing risks of unintended impacts on costs, supply chains, and project delivery.

This workshop will provide a structured, working‑level discussion on how different steel products are used across the wind value chain. Participants will assess use intensity, classify levels of impact, and discuss sourcing patterns. The goal is to build, together with the supply chain, a better understanding of steel use in the wind sector in order to inform future policy engagement
