Senior Scientist, RWE Offshore Wind
Biography
Sam is responsible for innovation within Resource Assessment at RWE. He currently project manages Spark; a technical innovation project that focuses on transferring knowledge from floating demonstrators to energy yield assessments. More generally, Sam is focused on the numerical modelling of wind farms across the scales: from individual wakes (wind speed deficits) between turbines, through wind farm level effects, to weather prediction across entire regions. These models are used to identify risks and opportunities within the Offshore industry, which contributes towards designing and optimising the wind farms of the future. Before joining RWE, Sam did his PhD at the University of Leeds on idealised thunderstorms.Presentations
