Charlie Plumley graduated with a PhD in Wind Energy Systems in 2015 and has been working for Wood PLC on a variety of wind energy projects over the past three years, both in technical and management roles. These projects have included technology demonstration, including the first example of Individual Blade Control on a 2.5MW turbine; commercial controller redesign projects, including using an original adaptive derating strategy to protect turbine gearboxes; a comprehensive wind turbine instrumentation project for a 7MW wind turbine; and, a number of wind farm optimisation projects, with assets ranging in size from 500kW to 500MW. Charlie has a keen interest in developing analysis tools and conducting original hands-on research that will benefit the wind industry.
