Biography

Elias Greenbaum is President of GTA, Inc. in Knoxville, Tennessee, a company working on the design, fabrication and testing of scalable prototype electrolytic systems for offshore hydrogen and oxygen production. Mr. Greenbaum has a proven track record of working as a team member with national laboratories, research universities and industry to generate valuable IP. His research group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory invented and patented AquaSentinel technology, an algal biosensor system for protection of source drinking waters. The patents were licensed and led to the formation of SecureWaters, Inc., now a multi-national company based in Tullahoma, Tennessee, http://www.securewatersinc.com/. Also, in co-operation with the noted retina surgeon Dr. Mark S. Humayun, University of Southern California Medical School, he co-founded the U.S. Department of Energy’s artificial retina program aimed at restoration of vision to patients with age-related macular degeneration or retinitis pigmentosa.
