Biography

Dr. Chris Golightly obtained a Civil Engineering degree in 1980 and an MSc in Engineering Geology in 1982, followed by PhD Research and Royal Society Post-Doctoral Fellowship at IFP Paris from 1985 to 1989. After two years in UK consultancy, he joined Fugro in 1992 as a Senior Engineer and in July 1997 joined BP, project-managing studies into risks to facilities from major “geohazards” in the Caspian region. In February 2003 he joined Shell Global Solutions in The Hague, responsible for managing downstream consultants working mainly LNG and GTL projects. He has been based near Brussels since October 2005, working from 2010 mostly in Technical and Vendor Due Diligence. Clients include operators, banks, lenders, developers, consultants, certifiers and govt./private research organisations. Ongoing concept studies include a Subsea Anchored Foundation Template [SAFT] and a hybrid Vertical Axis [VAWT] wind-wave energy floating unit [BLACKBIRD]. He has acted as an Expert Witness on arbitrations and as a Rapporteur for EC Horizon 2020 reviews.
