"Local impact, global leadership"

Sessions

Predicting fatigue and lifetime of operating wind assets

Supply chain, logistics and O&M on land and at sea

When: Thursday, 30 November 2017, 9:30 - 10:45
Where: G105

Session description

Local wind farm conditions can have a strong influence on turbine fatigue and lifetime. It is important to understand the link between weather conditions and fatigue damage. This session will consider a number of modelling techniques to allow this link to be made and to assess remaining useful lifetime for turbine components.

Learning objectives

  1. Explain how weather conditions influence component failure
  2. Show how to calculate remaining useful life of components and turbines
  3. Examine the link between weather conditions and main bearing load
