Living inside a wind turbine?
As of today you can! Tiny House is a converted nacelle, a great example how materials can be reused in innovative ways.
Come visit the Tiny House at WindEurope’s Annual Event in Copenhagen!
On the outside, you can clearly see that the tiny house was once part of a wind turbine, but inside everything has been prepared for a comfortable and homely stay. For instance, there is a kitchen, bathroom and living space. Moreover, the house is equipped with smart features such as a heat pump, solar panels and a solar water heater.
In the coming decades, thousands of wind turbines will be replaced. Most parts of a wind turbine — the foundation, tower, gearbox parts and generator — are easily recyclable. However, it would be better if the materials could be reused with as little processing as possible.

Last year, Vattenfall invited four design firms to come up with concepts for a second lease of life for turbines that have reached the end of their working life. Making something new with as few modifications as possible saves raw materials, energy and in this way we ensure that materials are useful for many years.
The tiny house was conceived and designed by Superuse and executed by Blade-Made and Woodwave. The nacelle comes from a V80 2 MW turbine, the first model with a nacelle large enough for a tiny house. Despite its limited size, the tiny house complies with the building code and is therefore fully usable for habitation, or holiday use.
The nacelle used for construction was taken from a wind turbine that was operating at the Austrian Gols wind farm in 2005. During 20 years of active service, the turbine produced 73 GWh of electricity (enough to power more than 29,000 households for a year). The nacelle stood at a height of 100 metres.
Guided Tours
We will be organising guided tours of the Nacelle on each day of the event. The tour lasts 20 minutes and are on a first-come, first-served basis:
- Tuesday 12:00 and 16:30
- Wednesday 12:00 and 16:30
- Thursday 12:00 and 14:00

Circularity in Vattenfall
Vattenfall is recognizing that sustainable business practices are essential for the further expansion of Wind energy and to competitiveness in the future. Currently, 85-90% of a wind turbine is recyclable, and Vattenfall has integrated circular principles across the entire wind farm lifecycle— from design phase, development, construction to operations and last but not least decommissioning.
Our commitment to circularity includes ambitious targets such as the complete reuse, refurbishment, repurposing or recycling of all decommissioned permanent magnets in decommissioned windfarms by 2030. As of 2025, we aim to reuse, refurbish, repurpose, and recycle 50% of turbine blades, nose cones, and nacelle covers, advancing to 100% by 2030, supported by a landfill ban on these components.

Circularity Workshops
Hosted in the Tiny House itself, the workshops aim to foster collaboration between key stakeholders and to create new pathways to help us to transition to a more circular business. During these workshops, the Tiny House will not be open for public visits.
- Tuesday 8 April: 10:00-11:00 and 15:00-16:00
- Wednesday 9 April: 10:00-11:00 and 15:00-16:00
