Join ACCIONA Energía for a guided walkthrough of the latest solutions in wind turbine blade recycling. Discover how dismantled blades are being transformed into everyday, usable products —including sneakers, surfboards, and infrastructure components.
As thousands of wind turbines across the globe near the end of their operational life, finding sustainable, scalable ways to recycle or repurpose their components — particularly blades — has become a top priority for the sector. ACCIONA Energía is tackling this challenge head-on by transforming end-of-life blades into products people can interact with, wear, and use in their daily lives.
Visitors will get an up-close look at the surfboards crafted from decommissioned blades at the Waubra Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia. Designed and built locally, these high-performance boards, part of a pilot initiative, showcase how advanced composite materials from retired blades can be creatively reimagined for use in lifestyle and sports products, all the while promoting circular design.

Also on display are two footwear models from ACCIONA Energía’s collaboration with El Ganso. The first is the 2023 limited-edition sneaker, made with recycled blade material incorporated into the sole, marking the earliest crossovers between wind energy and fashion. Alongside it is the new sneaker prototype, created using blade material from the Tahivilla wind farm, a site currently being repowered by ACCIONA Energía.
Each of these products is proof of how blade recycling can move beyond industrial applications to become part of daily life, offering practical, high-quality solutions that connect consumers directly with the circular economy. ACCIONA Energía’s Pop-Up Lounge offers a chance to experience this shift first-hand, showing how materials once used to generate clean energy can be repurposed into meaningful, functional items for a more sustainable future.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see, interact with, and experience the future of wind circularity through real-world applications brought to life by ACCIONA Energía.
