Session description
India is witnessing a fast-paced growth in renewable energy, including wind energy, capacity addition. With 49 GW of installed wind energy capacity and an annual manufacturing capacity of over 15 GW, India is a leader and ranks 4th globally in wind energy. Owing to a fast-paced growth of economy and India’s unwavering commitment to shared prosperity and climate action, central and state governments have put the expansion of wind energy at the core.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India, assisted by the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), is harnessing onshore wind capacities for over four decades and is already gearing to tap an estimated 70 GW of offshore wind potential off the coasts of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
