Posters

Come meet the poster presenters to ask them questions and discuss their work

We would like to invite you to come and see the posters at our upcoming conference. The posters will showcase a diverse range of research topics, and will give delegates an opportunity to engage with the authors and learn more about their work. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or simply curious about the latest developments in your field, we believe that the posters will offer something of interest to everyone. So please join us at the conference and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and engage with your peers in industry and the academic community.

On 9 April at 17:15, we’ll also hold the main poster session and distinguish the 7 best posters of this year’s edition with our traditional Poster Awards Ceremony. Join us at the poster area to cheer and meet the laureates, and enjoy some drinks with all poster presenters!

We look forward to seeing you there!

PO076: Industrialisation of next generation floating concepts: principles and lessons learned

Alex Raventos, CEO & Co-founder, X1 Wind

Abstract

This presentation will share relevant lessons learned to improve constructability from early design phases and enhance industrialization of FOWTs, leveraging specific innovations brought by next generation concepts. Lessons are drawn from projects developed by X1 Wind. Firstly, the demonstration PivotBuoy Project consisted in successfully deploying and testing a 1/3 scale prototype (X30 platform) in Canary Islands, completed in June 2023. Secondly, X1 Wind is currently working in the development and design of the pre-commercial Nextfloat Project with a large-scale turbine to be deployed in the Mediterranean Sea. Thirdly, feasibility studies for giga-watt scale commercial projects and the required serial production of floaters. The presentation will also put focus on the lessons learned from a project certification process, to highlight the relevance of considering their requirements from design phase to fabrication, T&I and finally operational phase. This is not only because of technical reasons, but also mandatory in terms of insurability and bankability of pre-commercial and commercial projects. Finally, relevant learnings regarding how the design can leverage the existing supply chain (for manufacturing, assembly and installation of FOWTs) will also be shared.
