Biography

Marcela has extensive experience in energy transition and carbon capture. At OPITO, she enhanced brand awareness and supported the Integrated People and Skills Strategy, focusing on skill transferability across offshore energy sectors, including wind, hydrogen, CCUS, and oil and gas, as part of the UK Government’s North Sea Transition Deal. Previously, as CCUS Technical Manager at the Energy Institute, Marcela re-established the CCUS Committee and led initiatives on flow assurance, pipeline repurposing, hazard analysis, and plant design best practices. Her work also includes developing guidelines for environmental protection, safety, and fuel quality in petroleum retail and aviation. Marcela holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development.
