Deputy Head of Unit - State Aid Energy at DG Competition, European Commission
Biography
Alejandro Donnay is Deputy Head of Unit in one of the two units responsible for State aid in the energy sector at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Law (ICADE). For the past 12 years, he has worked in the field of State aid at DG Competition, focusing on both the energy and financial sectors. Before joining the European Commission, Alejandro spent 16 years in the private sector, primarily in investment banking (at Banco Santander, JPMorgan, and BBVA), also dealing with matters related to the energy and financial sectors.
