Senior Scientist, RWE
Biography
Sam is responsible for innovation within RWE Offshore Wind GmbH. He specialises in numerical modelling of wind farms across the scales: from individual wakes (wind speed deficits) between turbines, through wind farm level effects, to weather prediction across entire regions. He uses these models to identify risks and opportunities within the Offshore industry, allowing him to contribute to designing and optimising the wind farms of the future. Sam has a background in atmospheric fluid dynamics, with a PhD from the University of Leeds on the descent and near-surface evolution of idealized thunderstorms.
