Biography

Mário is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD from the University of Lisbon, specializing in offshore renewable energy. For the past twelve years, he has conducted research and gained expertise at both experimental and numerical dimensions. Mario has been an Invited Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. Mário's academic journey took him as visiting scholar to both the Louisiana State University and UT Austin in the United States, where he focused on developing data science and machine learning models to optimize offshore wind implementation. At WavEC, Mário supports and leads techno-economic feasibility studies, experimental testing, and structural compliance studies of marine renewable energy projects. He is currently involved in several R&D projects related to innovative concepts for the future of offshore renewable energies.
