Biography

Andrew Hastings Black is an expert in remote sensing. His primary focus is the use of lidar for wind energy applications. During his career, he has developed new sensors and algorithms at Vaisala, contributing to the WindCube lidar, Triton sodar, and the X- and C-band weather radars. Andrew serves in the IEC 61400-15-2 and MT50 expert groups, and in the IEA Wind Task 52 “Large-Scale Deployment of Wind Lidar”. He has a BA in Physics from Tufts University and an MS in Applied Physics from Columbia University.
