Biography

Sid A. Attia is the Industry Manager for Utilities & Energy at MathWorks, with his base in Munich. In this capacity, he fosters close collaboration with account managers, customers, and utilities across conventional power, renewables, and storage sectors. His central mission revolves around identifying emergent technological trends within the power industry, while also guiding customers towards realizing their full potential to meet both business and technical goals. Before joining MathWorks, Sid held pivotal roles at esteemed companies like Nordex and various divisions of General Electric. With a trajectory encompassing technical leadership, senior engineering, and chief engineering positions, he has accumulated extensive experience in control systems, systems integration, and architecture across diverse energy sectors. Sid earned both an MSc and a PhD in control and automation from the Polytechnical Institute of Grenoble, France. Additionally, he spent several years in academia, dedicating his expertise to research and teaching in the field of control and optimization.
