Biography

Sid A. Attia is the principal engineer and Industry Manager for Utilities & Energy - Global at MathWorks, based in Munich-Germany. In this role, he works closely with account managers, customers, and utilities across the conventional power, renewables, and energy storage sectors. His primary mission is to identify emerging technological trends in the power industry while helping customers unlock their full potential to achieve both business and technical objectives. Before joining MathWorks, Sid held key positions at Nordex and various divisions of General Electric. His career spans technical leadership, senior engineering, and chief engineering roles, with deep expertise in control systems, systems integration, and architecture across diverse energy sectors. Sid holds both an MSc and a PhD in electrical engineering with specialization in Control and Automation from the Polytechnical Institute of Grenoble, France. He also spent several years in academia, focusing on research and teaching in control and optimization.
