Session description
The operation of wind farms may be subject to various constraints and have scope for overall optimisation during their lifetime. This session will examine bird monitoring systems (crucial for joint wildlife protection and curtailment mitigation), and optimisation of energy yield through wind farm control, reducing wake effects from pre-construction to actual operational implementation. The session will also bring the benefits of artificial intelligence support for decision making and planning.
Session chair
Irene Eguinoa
Head of Control Engineering, CENER
Presentations
Bird detection challenges and solutions in relation to offshore wind farms
Henrik Skov
Principal Scientist and Sales Manager Avian Ecology, Offshore Wind Environment, DHI
A methodology for pre-construction estimates of the energy gain from wind farm flow control including dynamic effects
