PO098: Comparative Analysis of RSD Correction Approaches in Complex Terrains

Abstract
Remote Sensing Devices (RSDs), especially LiDARs, offer advantages over conventional met masts in wind resource assessment, such as increased mobility and the capability to measure at greater heights. However, RSDs may face challenges in complex terrains due to flow heterogeneity and technological limitations. This study compares correction methodologies for RSD measurements in complex terrains, employing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. The comparative analysis involves uncorrected RSD data and measurements obtained from met masts at the same position as the evaluated RSDs. The results provide valuable insights for the efficient planning of wind farms by enhancing the accuracy of Annual Energy Production (AEP) estimations in challenging topography.
