Biography

Dr. Wolfgang Schlez founded ProPlanEn in 2015, and he has over 30 years' experience in wake and wind resource modelling, including 16 years at Garrad Hassan (now part of DNV). Wolfgang has authored and co-authored over 90 publications in his field, and with ProPlanEn he delivers pre-construction and post-construction consultancy services for onshore and offshore wind farm projects. Wolfgang led the development of WakeBlaster, a powerful 3D RANS CFD solver for the waked wind field which reduces uncertainty in wake loss predictions. Today WakeBlaster is available in both WindPRO and Openwind wind farm design software packages. Wolfgang also holds a master's degree in physics (Dipl. Phys.) from Oldenburg University, and he received a PhD from Loughborough University.
