Laying the foundations for better end of use practices in offshore wind

Abstract
Presentation of the insights from the EoL Committee on four foundational areas for more sustainable, safe, circular and equitable end of use practices for offshore wind: 1) international regulation; 2) industry standards; 3) benchmarking best practice; 4) material flow forecasting. On each of these areas, a targeted and time-bound Task and Finish Group is collating existing practice, facilitating knowledge exchange through webinars and capturing best practice in the form of key learnings/guidelines/practical frameworks for each area. The Committee and groups are working to create a better-informed offshore wind community on end of use challenges through co-produced know-how on the foundational areas that need to be in place. The session will highlight the key learnings and propose guidelines and practical frameworks on the four areas. About the EoL Committee: Engineering X and the World Forum Offshore Wind have jointly established the International Committee on End-of-Life (EoL) for Offshore Wind to lead a global shift towards safer, more sustainable late-life management of offshore wind infrastructure - including life extension, repowering, decommissioning, and circular material use. As a neutral, expert-led platform, the committee will connect diverse stakeholders, align efforts, and promote best practices. Through guidance, advocacy, and collaboration, it will embed safety, sustainability, and equity into the offshore wind lifecycle - ensuring EoL becomes a core pillar of responsible offshore wind development and the sector’s role in the global energy transition.
