Wind turbine components refurbishment as a solution for obsolescence and supporting lifetime extension projects

Abstract
"Lifetime extension projects depend not only on the integrity of the wind turbine but also on the supporting supply chain to guarantee the extended operations of the assets. Refurbishing wind turbine components is an option to guarantee the maintainability of wind turbines during the last years of operations. We are getting recurrently feedback from customers about obsolescence problems on mature wind turbines and we believe that refurbishment is the way to go from the start of operating the turbines to prevent lack of availability of parts in the last years of operations. We have identify the main barriers to entry to implementing this solution and want to share our views on how to overcome them to accelerate the implementation of this option."
