Marcello Colledani

Full Professor, Politecnico di Milano, and co-founder of FiberEUse Tech

Biography

Marcello Colledani is Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Milano. He has carried out research activities at the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity (LMP) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is Affiliate Member of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic Control and Fellow of the CIRP, the International Academy for Production Engineering. His research areas include stochastic modelling and analysis of manufacturing systems for their control and reconfiguration, modelling and analysis of advanced mechanical de-and remanufacturing technologies and systems for circular economy. He is the coordinator of the EU H2020 large scale demonstration project FiberEUse, targeting composite recovery and re-use, DigiPrime, for the development of a digital platform for circular economy in cross-sectorial sustainable value networks, and ForZDM, for the development of a new zero-defect manufacturing strategy in high added-value industrial contexts. He has the scientific responsibility of the “Recycling Cell” within the De-manufacturing Pilot Plant installed in 2013. He has scientific responsibility of the inter-departmental laboratory “CIRC-eV: Circular Economy for Electrified Vehicles of the Future”. He was coordinating the 2020 Circular Economy Roadmapping group in the Lombardy Region. He is the coordinator of the Lombardy Region and European groups working on the definition of the Pilot Network on “De- and Remanufacturing” for the “ESM – Efficient and Sustainable Manufacturing” Pilot within the Vanguard EU project.
