Biography

Jonas Gutknecht holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and is currently in the fourth year of his PhD at Delft University of Technology. His research focuses on active control strategies to mitigate wake-induced power losses at both the turbine-to-turbine and farm-to-farm scales. At the turbine scale, his work investigates the physical mechanisms responsible for the enhanced wake recovery achieved through helix active wake control, and uses these mechanisms to develop physics-based models. These insights led to the development of a new type of wind farm control strategy aimed at mitigating cluster wakes and improving the performance of multiple wind farms through farm-wide coordinated control patterns.
