Biography

Lizzie Withers is a Computational Scientist specialising in data‑driven modelling, optimisation, and high‑performance computing for offshore wind. She holds an MSc in Environmental Data Science and Machine Learning from Imperial College London, where she graduated top of her cohort, and an MEng in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Lizzie’s recent work includes developing tools for rapid energy‑yield analysis, achieving 90% reductions in runtime, and building new optimisation frameworks for offshore wind farm layout. Her career spans data science consulting, applied machine learning, and optimisation across a range of industries, including roles supporting BP’s Offshore Wind team and leading private‑equity firms. She has led the design and implementation of advanced optimisation and analytics solutions, with strong expertise in Python, Julia, HPC workflows and modern optimisation frameworks. Lizzie is passionate about applying computational methods to accelerate the energy transition and improve the performance of offshore wind.
