Wind Resource Analyst, Vattenfall
Biography
Joram de Vries is a Wind Resource Analyst at Vattenfall, where he focuses on wind resource assessment and the use of ground‑based lidar measurements to improve the accuracy of energy yield predictions. His work centres on understanding lidar data quality and availability, especially in complex terrain, where reliable measurements are essential for reducing uncertainty in wind resource modelling. He holds a double Master’s degree in Wind Energy from the Technical University of Denmark and Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology. His Master’s thesis examined turbulence‑related uncertainty in ground‑based lidar measurements in flat terrain, forming the basis of his continued interest in atmospheric effects on remote sensing performance. Joram also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, where he designed and built a small wind turbine with dynamically pitched blades, presenting this work at the TORQUE conference. This experience sparked his early interest in wind energy.Posters
