Principal Wind Energy Consultant, Black & Veatch
Biography
Peter has been active in the wind industry for over 20 years. He has pioneered lidar wind measurement techniques, including transition piece and nacelle mounted scanning lidar. This has supported groundbreaking investigations of, for example, low level jets (LLJs) and wind turbine wakes. He developed distribution matching methods for performing measure-correlate-predict (MCP) long-term adjustments in wind resource assessment, such as Modified Weibull Scaling (MWS), novel extreme value analyses, and SCADA data analysis for rapid triage of wind turbine operations and maintenance. He is the project team leader of IEC PT 61400-50-4 preparing guidance for the use of floating lidar systems, convener of IEC maintenance team IEC MT 61400-50 concerned with wind measurement standards and is an active member of other committees covering standards for site suitability, energy yield, and power performance assessment, and contributes to a variety of other industry forums.Posters
