Biography

For his master’s degree studies, Mr. Schroers specialized in the hydrological cycle and, in particular, in numerical calculation of extreme hydraulic events. He was able to put the latter into practice during a six-month internship at CH2m Hill in the UK, before working as a project engineer in the hydropower sector mainly in Latin America (Peru, Chile, Mexico) but also in Asia (Thailand, Vietnam). The main focus of this project work from 2017 to 2022 was on data analysis and numerical modeling of the hydrological cycle. From 2017 on, Mr. Schroers was at the same time a PhD student of the Institute for Water and River Basin Management, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, at the Chair of Hydrology for which he organized the setup and operation of a hydrological metering network in a sub-catchment of the Peruvian capital Lima for the joint project ‘TRUST’ of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Parallel to his project work, Mr. Schroers taught as a visiting lecturer at the National Agrarian University – La Molina. Following his defense of his dissertation, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology awarded him the degree of Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) at the beginning of 2023. Mr. Schroers is a native speaker of German, speaks English and Spanish, and has basic knowledge of French, Swahili and Hebrew.
