Dr Abdollah Malekjafarian is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil Engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland. His research focuses on improving the reliability, performance, and operational lifespan of wind turbines through advanced monitoring, digital technologies, and data-driven solutions. His work focuses on developing practical tools and decision-support frameworks to help wind farm owners and operators assess the condition of ageing assets, evaluate opportunities for safe lifetime extension, and make informed end-of-life decisions. Drawing on research and industry collaborations in Ireland and across Europe, he combines lifetime assessment with economic and environmental considerations to support decisions on continued operation, repowering, and decommissioning.
