Biography
Mrs. Desplenter has been working for the Marine Environmental Department of the Federal Public Service Health since 2020. She graduated from UGent with a master’s degree in veterinary medicine. After working as a veterinarian for a year she taught science and mathematics for 10 years. She currently works as a policy advisor on decommissioning of offshore windfarms, aquaculture and munition remnants at sea. In close consultation with stakeholders, she is exploring the options for the complete decommissioning of the first offshore wind farms in the Belgian part of the North Sea in light of technological progress and growing insights into the interactions between wind farms and the marine environment.
