Pre-event Webinar (23 September 2021)

On 4-5 November, Eolis 2021 will put the spotlight again on what needs to happen when a wind farm reaches the end of its operational lifetime.

In order to reach carbon neutrality, Europe will have to significantly expand its wind capacity, both on- and offshore. But this expansion won’t have to all happen on new sites, and lifetime extensions and repowering will play a crucial role in ensuring a successful energy transition.

Some assets that won’t be lifetime-extended will have to be decommissioned, either for refurbishing and re-deployment, or dismantling and recycling.

In all these areas new solutions and business models are arising.

Before we dive into these in November, we held a free webinar to help you understand more about the context in which this is all happening, and how policy and regulatory changes at the European and national level will affect our ability to achieve our goals.

Ivan Komusanac, Analyst Markets and Wind Energy Technology at WindEurope, Claudia Grotz, head of Public Affairs Europe at Siemens Gamesa, and more expert speakers met to discuss evolving permitting rules, state aid rules reform, and the industry’s call for a ban on landfilling of blade waste.
