Floating offshore wind is growing rapidly at global scale. It will contribute to reaching Europe's decarbonisation targets by 2050, providing almost a third of all installed capacity (between 100-150 GW). National energy policy is a huge driver of this growth – but as it stands, current policies will not take us there. For projects on the scale of bottom-fixed installations to reach full commercial scale, political support is needed.
In this Sofa Talk, we look at the key actions needed over the next few years to consolidate Europe’s leadership in floating offshore technologies and develop at least 6 GW by 2030.
