Topics<\/h2>\n

The Resource Assessment Workshop will be constructed around the following main topics.<\/p>\n

Under all topics, we will welcome presentations covering how to handle big data,<\/strong> how resource assessment can contribute to minimising the cost of energy<\/strong>, and how to reduce uncertainty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Topic 1: Advanced Flow Modelling<\/h3>\n

Including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Mesoscale modelling\n
      \n
    • Large wind farms and their interaction with the atmosphere<\/li>\n
    • Reducing uncertainty in the prediction of the long term AEP<\/li>\n
    • Bridging the gap between meso-scale and micro scale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Stability<\/li>\n
    • Thermal flows and their impact on energy yield<\/li>\n
    • Model nesting (including sensitivity to, and configuration of, feeder models)<\/li>\n
    • Time-domain modelling<\/li>\n
    • Uncertainties across the range of flow parameters and timescales<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Topic 2: Siting and layout design optimisation<\/h3>\n

      Including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Hybrid wind farms with solar\/storage solutions<\/li>\n
      • Optimising wind farm design to minimise CoE and win an auction<\/li>\n
      • Siting issues and approaches\n
          \n
        • Estimation of mean winds, extreme winds and turbulence intensities.<\/li>\n
        • Estimation of wind shear and flow angles<\/li>\n
        • Estimation of distributions and wind roses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Topic 3: Outputs in real conditions<\/h3>\n

          Including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • Reconciling Pre-construction estimates with post-construction yields<\/li>\n
          • Prediciting wind farm output in reality<\/li>\n
          • New methods for accurately predicting wind turbine output in real world condition<\/li>\n
          • Power curves in the real world<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Topic 4: Measurements and analysis<\/h3>\n

            Including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

            • Methods, tools and campaign results<\/li>\n
            • Special focus\u00a0: Scanning LiDARs<\/li>\n
            • Radar<\/li>\n
            • Big data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Topic 5: Wakes<\/h3>\n

              Including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n

              • Modelling<\/li>\n
              • Measurements<\/li>\n
              • Validation of model results<\/li>\n
              • Wakes from other operating or planned wind farms<\/li>\n
              • Reducing uncertainty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                General Abstracts requirements – for all topics<\/h3>\n
                  \n
                • Innovative content:<\/strong> abstracts should contain new work, not yet published<\/li>\n
                • No commercial content please:<\/strong> overtly commercial abstracts will receive low ratings.<\/li>\n
                • Contribution to industry knowledge:<\/strong> abstracts should strive to present data or results that can contribute to bringing the industry forward.<\/li>\n
                • The correct topic must be selected<\/strong> to ensure correct scoring. The content of the abstract must be topic-related. It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure that abstracts are submitted under the correct topic.<\/li>\n
                • Abstract format: plain text<\/strong> (no tables, graphs, charts or images).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
